Workshops "Right to Education"

Date:
Thursday, September 21, 2017
During the days 13th and 20th September two training days were developed for the creation of accessible academic texts. The activity was mainly intended for volunteers who subsequently wish to continue making and editing this type of material for the university community of the UNR. The proposal has its origin in the University Volunteering "Right to Education", an interinstitutional initiative of the National University of Rosario (UNR) and the MUCAR Association. Its objective is to promote the initiation and permanence of people with visual impairment at higher education levels.
The training consisted of two instances. During the meetings, the participants learned how to produce accessible reading material, which was in charge of Teresa Montero, a member of the Accessible Reading Service of the Argentina Library Dr. Juan Álvarez of Rosario. In the second meeting the themes of accessibility and universal design were developed, to give way to the knowledge of the Accessible Repository of the UNR. This was presented by Marisa Cenacchi, Academic Coordinator of the University's Virtual Campus, and Griselda Guarnieri, Research Associate at the Researching Council of the UNR.
With the goal of achieving the effective fulfillment of the right to an inclusive education in the UNR, the production of accessible study material will have its subsequent load in the Accessible Repository of the University, allowing blind or low vision students to consult the bibliography and download it.
