Final Signing of the Collaboration of the MUSE Network took place during the Final International Conference in Viña del Mar, Chile.
MUSE International week took placefrom the 27th to the 31st of August in the Campus Miraflores of the Universidad Viña del Mar, Chile.
MUSE International week had 3 main events. In first place, a practical workshop " “Using ITC for the inclusion of people with disability in the classroom” by Mrs. Josefa Parreño and Mr. José María Fernandez, of the Universidad de Alicante, Spain
On tuesday 28th of August, the “Internationalization, inclusion and innovation: Challenges for Higher Education in Latin America” was inaugurated by the President of the Universidad Viña del Mar, , Sr. Carlos Isaac Palyi. The keynote speaker was Dr. Francisco Javier Gil,PhD, The Director, Programme of inclusive access, equity and stay (PAIEP), Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Sra María Isabel Zurita, Regional Director of the National Service of Disability of the Chilean Goverment, presented on "Inclusive High Education Institutions: Main challenges for Chile in accordance with the National Plan for Disability". There was a Panel with International and National participants on "“Creating innovative practices for the Inclusion of Students with disabilities". and Meritxell Calbet, MUSE General Director and Director of International Cooperation of the Universidad Viña del Mar presented the MUSE NETWORK: Internationalization as a key component for Innovation and Inclusion in Higher Education: The MUSE Network.
Finally, on the 29th, 30 and 31st of August, the Final International Conference “Reaching 2020: Steps for Latin American Higher Education Institutions to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals in Inclusive Education”took place. On Wednesday August 29th there was the final signing of the Collaboration Agreement to form the Interinstitutional Academic Network "MUSE: A quality education for students with disabilities". During the day, several conferences took place: Erasmus+ Capacity Building Projects: the role of the European Union in the Development of Latin American Countries by Ms. Susana Agüero, Representative of the Delegation of the European Union in Chile. "Developing an inclusive high education: certainties, questions and challenges" by Ms. Catalina García Inclusion Director PIANE- UC Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. And also, Ms. Vivian Heyl, Director of the unidad de Inclusión División de Educación Superior (DIVESUP) of the Ministry of Education, Government of Chile gave a conference on "Inclusive Chilean High Education Institutions: Main challenges". In the afternoon of that same day two other conferences took place "Pillars of Creating an Inclusive Higher Education Institution" by Ms. Jacqueline Cawtson, of the Coventry University, United Kingdom and "Creating an Inclusive Culture: Best Practice Case Study" by Dra. Núria Grane, Students and employability Vice rector. Universidad de Alicante, Spain.
Finally a panel took place with several national and international members on "Inclusive High Education Panel: Main challenges". The conclusions of the day were carried out by MUSE General Directo: :Mrs. Meritxell Calbet, MUSE General Director and Director of International Cooperation, Universidad Viña del Mar, Chile
On thursday 30th of August 2018, Mr. Hugo León Cañas, Director of Regional Labour Regional of Valparaiso Administration of the Ministerio del Trabajo y Previsión Social, Gobierno de Chile gave a speech on Inclusion of people with disability to the labour: main challenges in Chile. After that, a Labour Inclusion Panel: Building Labour Opportunities Among Companies and Higher Education Institutions. took place with national and international experts of several business companies. Afterwards, there was an Accessibility Panel: Campus and City Accessibility with several topics on this topic. On the afternoon session, University Social Responsibility: Incorporating the gender and disability perspective was the conference given by the expert of Universidad de Valencia Dr. Manuel Martí Vilar, PhD. Following this topic, the Gender and Disability Panel: How to Build Constructive Gender Practices on Campus and in the Classroom took place. Finally, Mrs. Meritxell Calbet, MUSE General Director and Director of International Cooperation, Universidad Viña del Mar, Chile gave the conclusions. .
The last day of both the Final International Conference and the MUSE International Week, was started by the conference of the Social Issues Official of the Social Development of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. (CEPAL) on "TIC’s Facing the Challenges of Inclusive Education in Latin America".
"Inclusive Technologies for an Inclusive Education. MUSE project equipment" was carried out by Mr. José María Fernández and Josefa Parreño, PhD. and it was followed by Accessible Technologies Showroom, carried out as well by the same experts. Finally, the President of the Universidad Viña del Mar, gave the Final Conclusions and Statments and the MUSE International Week.
