Wednesday, June 29, 2016

In conjuction with the new Inclusion Unit (PIU) and the Social Innovation and Inclusion Centre (CRIIS), MUSE welcomed PhD candidate María Fernanda Arentsen, expert in inclusion practices.  Dr. Arentsen gave a talk entitled "Reflections of Inclusion Representations in Recent Culture" for professors and students at the Miraflores campus of UVM.

The talk was introduced by Occupational Therapy professor Debiee Cavieres, who led participants in an activity where they had to put themselves in the situation of someone living with blindness or low mobility and construct a paper airplane.  The activity was meant to serve as a hands-on way to prepare the audience for Dr. Arentsen´s exposition.

Throughout the exposition, Dr, Arentsen welcomed opinions and comments from the community about inclusion in Chilean culture.  This activity marks one of the first of many to spark the conversation of inclusion and the right to access equal education for everyone at UVM and in Chile.
